    Different part number, same item

    Ricoh Hot Rollers,

We've allways used genuine Ricoh hot rollers P/N AE011103 for all machines in the 2022 thru 3025 series.

The part # published for the MP2352 is AE011128. It by all appearances is the same roller w/ a $10.00 higher price.

Any body else pick up on this?

Are the thermistors still the same? AW10 0053's?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Changes in Ricoh parts are usually only for three reasons:

          1. Update to account for some kind of design flaw (think the springs in the 1018 family boxes that were lengthened)
          2. Change in vendor
          3. Changes in one material or another in the part

Doing a lot of testing, I've found that a good number of parts are backwards compatible with their older versions, even if Ricoh says nothing on it. Some examples:

The B209 transfer roller has no difference other than a lighter colour foam from the old A267 roller and works just the same.
The B246 drums work just as nicely in the older 60 series machines: the only difference is a few extra milimetres of organic coating.
B180 PCUs work in the older LD232c machines by just breaking off the extra pin on the faceplate (the B180 drums are a little more expensive, but for the added flexibility and less labour intensive work of snipping a pin as opposed to swapping plates it can be worth it).
The D009 cleaning blade works in all 35/45 series from the 2035/45 on.

Sometimes I think the changes are just to get more parts revenue.
