    [Error Code] MP 8000 SC990

I am having trouble with this error code. It happened after I have replaced controller board and BCU board which helped me to solve SC 670. After replacing the boards, SC 990 appears. I have tried to replace almost every board in the machine, but the error code still appears. I tried to access the machine's SP mode, and it display's Japanese language instead of English. Tried entering into factory settings mode but unable to. Can anyone guide me on what I can do?

You had to replace Both boards to solve 1 problem? I doubt it. I also wouldn't consider myself to have 'solved' anything, but rather created adtitonal problems.
I'm sure that you swapped the NVram over to the new controller right?
I also suspect that the problem may have not been the BCU or controller, but perhaps a firmware issue, or maybe just the HDD. But you tried the machine with it disconnected right?
If I were you, I would put the machine back to the way it was, and start over. Aimlessly swapping circuitry to get different SC's doesn't seem to be working.

Actually, I have swapped NVRAM over to the new board and also updated the firmware, and also disconnected the hard disk (which comes out SC870). Basically anyone has an idea on what I can do?

Hey, I'm trying to offer you advice.
When did you unplug the HDD? Before or after you started swapping boards?
SC870 is simply an address book error because the HDD is disconnected.

The more info you provide the more helpful we can be.

I'd follow Sandmanmac's suggestions or clarify what steps you have already taken in the exact order you performed them.

If I were to come along and try and resolve this for you, I would put all the original boards back in, reformat HDD and upgrade firmware. There are a few bulletins out regarding firmware for the original sc670.

Guys, sorry if the way u typed have somehow offended you.
For the HDD, I have tried disconnecting before and after swapping boards.
Now the SC990 is killing me and I don't know what else to do.

This may help with the Japanese language:

The serial no. needs to be entered via factory service mode.
              Press Cancel (yellow key),
              1, 4, 3,
Stop Key (red key) x2 (press and the hold second time)
              Enter SP 11004
Enter Serial No. (Enter any capital letters)

              and

The destination code needs set via factory service mode.
              Press Cancel (yellow key),
              1, 4, 3,
Stop Key (red key) x2 (press and the hold second time)
              Enter SP 5807
Set to number 3 for Europe (or wherever you are)

If youre frequently used keys are in Japanese also try this:

              Enter User Tools
Scanner Features and / or Fax Features
              General Settings
              Switch Title (set to English)

I have tried to enter factory setting mode, but failed. It's also hard to enter into the normal SP mode.

Did you swap the ram over on the BICU board or just the NVRAM on the controller?

The error is usually caused by the serial number stored in the BICU RAM not matching the one stored in the NVRAM on the controller.

i have actually swapped everything to the new board before placing the board into the machine. I have double-checked and triple-checked just to make sure nothing was left out.

Probably you will new a new IOB and reflash your firmware. I suspected sc670 is caused by the pinched harnesses. I would check the harnesses before replacing more board.

i have checked all harness and made sure that everything is still in good condition.
i have tried to check our server for firmwares for MP8000 but the only firmware available is the system firmware. i don't know whether updating using MP8001's firmware is an appropriate thing to do.
as for the iob, i have already replaced it. but still the same condition.
