We have had a situation where this range of colour MFP develop a loud groaning noise whenever the fusing unit turns.
The field engineers have tried all kinds of creative thinking and have resorted to replacing the whole unit as it then shuts up.
I have done some R&D and found that it is caused by the hotroller (which is one of these thin film designs) that does not have a "frame" of its own, but runs around a slightly smaller metal frame. This contains what looks like some form of lube cloth/bar which does not seem to do much for the machine as we have had ones fail within the first year op field operation.
I proceeded to remove and strip the hotroller assembly, then cleaned the inner "frame and coated it with a thin coat of MR MCKANIC Litium grease (stable to 200 degrees C) although the machine should not see more than 120 degrees C.
I re-assembled and am currently testing, but it seems that we have got it sorted.
Will report back after some more inclusive testing.
