[Misc] Mpc 3001 correct driver usage.

    Hi

I would like to know if it makes a difference, if I use mpc2000 driver on a mpc3001. Will I use more toner when printing b/w or colour? Is there away to see how much toner a colour print used?

    Thanks

The answer to all 3 of your questions is "no".
Although I don't know why you wouldn't simply download and install the proper driver, which, in all likelihood will be a more recent update, just in case there are any glitches. It takes 2 minutes.

I was told that it doesn't matter.
Why I ask thees questions is, I'm not making yeld. I get about 10000 copies per colour. We do print a fair amount of pictures and I know that the yeld is worked out on plain text. But that there is about 6000 copies difference. Isn't that a big difference? Are there any settings I can look at, to reduce toner usage. Just to save were I can. Like not to use colour for gray. Thank you for your help.

The industry standard is not based on `text`necessarily, but rather 5% coverage - Think of that as a solid block that is 1/20 of a page.
If you are printing photos, the coverage is obviously MUCH higher; For example, If you print a Full page photo, that would be (nearly) 100% coverage, and so a 20,000 page yield cartridge could yield as little as 1000 pages in that case.
So to answer your question, `NO` a 60% yield is not unrealistic at all.

Thank you for your help. If possible is there any settings I can look at, to make sure that the copier/printer is set at it's optimum toner usage? Like gray only prints using black. Or an economic setting, I don't want to affect the quality of prints but if I can set it, to save it would help. Thank you.

Of course you can set the printer's default to Black and white, so it will only print colour if you tell it to.
Control panel / devices and printers/ right click on your printer / select 'printer properties'/ preferences / select 'Black and white' /apply

Now it will only use Black toner, unless you tell it otherwise:
When you want to print in color, you can temporarily override the settings in your printer dialog box under 'preferences' just prior to sending the job.

I Have it set like that already, but you can also tell it to use colour to print all your grays. It was like that on the printer driver. Where can I go in the copier setup to see if it does not do it as swell. Thank you.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but all printer (color) preferences are set within the printer driver itself. There is nothing you can set on the copier that will affect how/what colors are printed (if that's what you're asking).

Bye the way, I hope you're using Original brand (Oem) toner, or that may be also the cause of lower yields as well. They NEVER get the full yield of the original brand. And while it can initially cost substantially less than the OEm, it will also inevitably cause far more serious copy quality / mechanical issues with the machine that will far out way any "savings"
