[Electrical] MPC6501 - Finisher dead after firmware upgrade failure

We've got an MPC6501 in which we were in the process of updating the firmware. For some reason, the finisher firmware failed and the machine no doesn't recognize the finisher. I guess the finisher receives power as the finisher board has a red led that comes up as the machine is powering up (but shuts off after that never to be see again).

Is the board replacement the only option here? Or do you know of any procedure we can try to revive this finisher?

Also, this thread also on this, in case you want to chime in.

Maybe try and load an older version of firmware. We only do firmware when it's necessary.

Your finisher is probably another casualty of the disaster in Japan 2011. Check this bulletin. RTTGen111104a.pdf
