[Misc] MPC3501 Fax forwarding to email in PDF

Set up customer to forward faxes to a group email. Once they recieved the email, it was in TIFF format. Went to Switch 21 bit 3 and it was already on 1, which should be PDF. Switched to 0 and it was TIFF then switched it back to 1 and still forwarding as a TIFF. Checked Fax Features-Initial Settings-Email Settings and Folder Settings and both were on. According to the manual, on page 1718 it says "
    E-mail FileFormat:
    Single/multi-partMIME conversion
    Image: TIFF-F (MH, MR, MMR)"

does that mean it will only email in TIFF when fax forwarding is on?

I do know that if you are forwarding to a folder, its not an issue really. Go in there, switch the bit and bodda bing bodda boomb, it sends it to the folder PDF/TIFF, which ever one you choose. It seems that forwarding to email is TIFF only...

I called ricoh after looking at Knowledgebase and GG and they couldnt even give me a solution. I have also updated the firmware to the latest and greatest.

Here is the funny part, when they get the fax, THEY PRINT IT OUT ANYWAY!!!! Why don't they just have it print in the first place? Because i think its a conspiracy and they are trying to make our lives just that much more difficult.......Anyway, any suggestions would be nice.....have a wonderful day!!!!!!
But I cleaned the scan glass.......

For forwarding without print out on the machine, set the parameter setting on 11 - 6

I would think this model, being quite recent, would forward to email in PDF - apparently I would be wrong...

That's what I thought, too, but as it turns out this model DOES support it.

Re: MPC3501 Fax forwarding to email in PDF

Just to weigh in with my experience from only a few days ago....I set up an MP3350 to forward to email, and had the exact same issue.
I always set file type to PDF when available, just for simplicity. The customer was using the feature strictly for convenience more than anything, and we didn't discuss file types (nor did I dwell on it), but I was very intrigued at why the hell it didn't convert to PDF, knowing full well that the machine supports it, and having done it many times - Ironically, with many thanks to KenB for another chart in this thread:

I'll just wait and see if anyone has discovered a solution

Haven't figured it out myself, but the machine can forward faxes as PDF's, if you forward them to a folder.

            Switch: 21, Bit: 3

File format for files forwarded to folder destinations

            0: TIFF
            1: PDF

Just had this issue yesterday on a Savin 9025B. Ricoh said it's not supported for email. I'm calling bullshit since it does PDF to folder.....

                You are correct!

The same document shows this model also supports it.

You may want to bring that to their attention.

BTW.. Not all models do. Just because they forward to folder as a PDF does not necessarily mean they will for email. Always check first.

An idea would be to forward the fax to folder as a PDF, then have a batch script running in the background to forward that file to email.

If a batch script means i have to go into the customers puter and make some changes, we dont do that. We shouldn't have to do that anyway since, according to "Ricoh" it should work...

Well come to find out, somebody(the customer), somehow was dicking around and created a group within a group and had it forawrding to the ifax. So it was coming through, only not in PDF. After deleting the groups that someone created, and starting over, the fax forwarding is working and they are coming through in PDF. Of course nobody there would fess up to messing with the copier.

Anyway guys, thank you all for your input!!!
