MPc2030, Twain & Desktop Binder Lite

    Hi,

One of our customers has an MPc2030 which needs Twain to scan to the PC, however, Desktop Binder Lite has no x64 compatibility.

Does anybody know of a (free) interface to import the scans via the Twain driver please?

    Thanks in advance,

    The Llama.

Can't you try the 32-bits network twain driver? If the scan application is 32-bit it will work on a 64-bit Operating System.

The Twain driver isn't the issue, what I need is an application to "drag" the file into. None of the standard Microsoft products that they have recognise the copier as being there as a scanner, for example in MS Paint the import from a scanner function is greyed out as it thinks that they have no scanner.

There's something in the later versions of Office that can do it, I just can't remember what the bloody hell it's called! It's something like picture and fax viewer, that can do it.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

They have 2013, the very latest abortion from Microsoft, which now comes without Office Picture Manager. Windows Live Photo Gallery, the suggested alternative as per Microsoft, doesn't see the scanner.

Still, at least they bought Windows 7 and not 8, that would have really fucked them.

I use Softi Scanwiz, they offer a 30 day trial and its only a modest amount to buy.

I've used IrfanView for years to work with image files including PDFs. I had never thought to use it for twain scanning.

Have you considered Libreoffice? (LibreOffice 4.1 is here!) Or if you want something with a more English sounding name, Openoffice? (Sorry, don't have the link for that, but Google probably does.) They are free replacements for Microsoft Office, and while I've never used Twain scanning with either it appears that the capability still exists in version 4.1 of Libreoffice. At least for Windows 7 anyway.
Openoffice was actually the progenitor, so while Libreoffice has different features, I'd guess the internal mechanics are at least kind of similar between the two of them.

I have used OpenOffice for a few years. I think the website is OpenOffice dot org. The Kim Komando show and website used to recommend OpenOffice but now recommends LibreOffice as it is more feature rich. I haven't yet tried LibreOffice.

I just tried Twain scanning to Libreoffice's "Write" component, and it does indeed work on my home system. So it should work with anything that has a proper Twain driver installed, as long as the operating system allows it.

I eventually used Cumulus Get Scan+Store. It's a free browser-based app that uses the Twain driver and seems to be adequate.
