    Ricoh 3245c Copy quality poor

    Hi
I have a 3245c that prints very well, but the photocopy of the same document is very poor, bad colours etc, and very faint.

    Any help please

Thanks, new to this machine, can you point me to them? Are they above the developers?

If you are not familiar to this machine it is better to have a service manual. Nonetheless, you can see the mirrors under the platen glass(under your adf unit).

If you're not able to find the optics you're obviously not a tech. I suggest you call one.

I'm sorry if it sounds a bit blunt, but if you don't know what you're doing with the optics you can cause serious harm to this machine. I've seen techs taking the Lens Assembly apart and complaining about Service Calls and black copies. If you carefully clean all mirrors and scanning lamp you'll be fine.

It could simply be that the default copy setting is "photo" or at least something other than “text” which will provide a lighter image.
I do agree that if the term “optics” is over your head, you`ll inevitably do far more harm than good, if you start trying to do maintenance on this machine.

My suggestion would be to search You Tube for videos of basic copier maintenance and Cleaning Optics on Copy Machines first before starting your DIY project.

Best of luck. Report back when you succeed or run into a new problem.

Thanks but like I said just trying to learn so it does not matter if I mess up my own machine does it?

you have every right to learn your machine but also realize this is an electromechanical device which reproduce images using high voltages, your best bet to stay alive and not get yourself or anyone else electrocuted is to buy a service manual from paul@justmanuals.com read the manual on how to get to certain parts recommend here. There are things you should never touch that could make it a hazard for you or anyone who uses the copier.

                              good luck
