    ScanRouter V2 Pro update

I have a customer that has been useing ScanRouter Pro v2 and everything has been working great. they would like to replace their older hardware with a new computer. We have installed the ScanRouter V2 Pro 2.1.0.0 from the CD, but we need to update to 2.1.3.0 to support the copiers they have.

Back in the day it was no problem...just goto the web site and download the update, but Savin has stoped supporting ScanRouter and has taken down all the download links. When I call into the hotline they say they do not have any of the Scanrouter files anymore.

Does anyone has any idea where i can find this update, or has a copy they can send me?

    Thanks!

Try going to Copiers, Printers, Multifunctional Color Copiers, Color Printers, Production Printing, Management Document Services, IT Services | Ricoh USA Search the driver/download area for an older mfp, I tried a 2045. In the driver area you will see a blue colored link to ScanRouter. Here you will find your update.

Here's a little more direct link to the same place: ScanRouter

Nice how the help(less) desk is so clueless as to its existence. (And no, that is a public site, not the dealer site.)

Note that I am not in any way encouraging or even condoning its continued use. I'm with Tonerbomb on this; Scanrouter needs to die.

        Die, Scanrouter, die!

Careful, though. A newer computer means a newer OS. Lotsa luck with Server 2008 or, gulp, higher!

Thanks for the link, but ScanRouter V2 is not listed...ScanRouter EX Replaced V2...

As far as ScanRouter goes...I always liked it..we put it out in a few dozen placements and it worked very well...Maybe I am just lucky.

Unfortunately Ricoh doesn't have a good replacement that allows central address book on 40 machines that is easy to use...Customer does not like the idea of LDAP Searching. We have looked at GlobalScan but to implement CAP is way too many $$ to make it actually feasible. We also looked at batch pushing out address books. but the smaller machine cannot hold an address book large enough for the user where ScanRouter bypassed this issue.

and Yes i have warned the customer that the next series of copiers wont work with it no matter what.

can anyone say stuck between a rock and a hard plate?

What does this mean? They have 40 machines and want to have 1 address book to roll out to all of them?

Yes. They want all machines configured to have identical address books.

Smart Device Monitor for Admin will do the trick, I believe.

SDM for Admin wouldnt be automatic...was looking at @remote Enterprise Pro but the smaller copiers (Savin 816/917) wont allow for a large enough address book as the big machines.

No, not automatic, however it's easy to roll one address book out to multiple machines. Nothing's automatic, you'd still have to input the relevant data once.

I know this is old, but in case anyone *really* needs the files, you can find the links on archive.org
the files still exist - just access an old version of the web page ScanRouter

                        Re: ScanRouter V2 Pro update

ScanRouter was a kludge for the fact that early machines didn't have native SMB capabilities. Samba has been baked into every Ricoh device for at least a decade now so ScanRouter isn't needed, and isn't supported in the brave new world of 64-bit client and server operating systems. Even more, ScanRouter doesn't support newer levels of SMB, so using it can put some customers into an issue of violating security requirements.

As for transferring address books to multiple machines, you can create a master on a single machine and create a backup of it through the web interface and then import it into as many other devices as you need to. It's not as if address books change that much, but the other disadvantage of 'One Address Book to Rule Them All' is that it takes out the ability for different departments to have their own specific locations or recipients. I've tried it before, and it just ends up causing hassles. The compromise was to create a basic, rarely changing, list of scan locations that were universal then import those into every machine and then leave the rest of the locations up to the individual groups with IT doing the heavy lifting of entering those.
