RIcoh MP C3502, very slow when printing colored pdf file.

hello we just installed a new mp c3502 3months ago, last week the machine prints very slow in colored pdf file, machine hoopk in a network and their IT guy said they have 1gb network speed, is that gonna cause the issue?
i already updated the firmware of the machine same problem, change the printer driver from PCL6 to PLC5 same problem, change the network port from the switch same problem, connect the copier to the computer directly without the switch same problem. it tooks 5mins to finished a 10pages colored pdf file. computers are running on win7 at 32 and 64bits.

    help appreciated..thanks..

try the memory usage - font or frame priority.

Is it direct IP or though the server? have you tried configuring the port to lpr

How big is the file? Try 'print as image' or some other way of flattening prior to sending to the printer.

file sized is around 10mb and its 10pages, i set a time to print it tooks 5mins to finished the whole job. first page print in around 17sec and the second until finished it takes more time.

and correct me if i am wrong, in the network port at the side of the machine if the orange light lit it means machine is using 10mbps speed right and if the green is lit it means it has a speed of 100mbps. and the light stay on orange even we connect the machine directly to the computer.

PDF is only a "container" format for text and pictures!....kind of like .flv (flash video) which can contain several varieties of video codecs.

SO....if the 10 megabyte PDF file contains jpeg images that are compressed, the computer has to decompress the jpeg files which usually turn out to be larger and then send them to the printer in RAW format. You can find out if the PDF is layered if you try to open it in Photoshop.....kind of like Barack Obama's Certificate of Live Birth, which was a "supposed" un-manipulated single layer PDF document, but when "deconstructed" with a program called "File Juicer" was filled with all kinds of layers and metadata!

Flatten your PDF file before printing!

Last post is correct, embedded objects in the PDF are slowing it. A workaround is to hit the 'advanced' button in Adobe Reader print dialogue, then check the box 'print as image'. Quality isn't as good, it's a tradeoff, otherwise your punter needs to learn to flatten correctly when saving to PDF.
