    mag roller

    hi to all,

pardon my ignorance but i would like to ask how to adjust the magnetic roller to .35 for an aficio 3045 to make it run cleaner based on a thread i've read in here. also what tool will i use to measure this .35?

hoping for your guidance. thank you.

    Basic flat feeler gauge.
Auto parts stores have them, just get metric.

Remove and clean the mag roller assy.
Remove all toner on the mag roller. (I use a scotchbrite with windshield fluid as a lubricant/solvent rubbing lightly.
Loosen the 2 screws on 1 side and place the feeler between the blade and metal plate while pressing down and tighten the screws lightly.
Pull the feeler back and forth until the mag roller turns with little pressure.
    Tighten the screws.
Repeat for the other side, then check the middle for mag roller turning the same way.
Front, rear and middle should feel the same.

Clean the unit again with alcohol and reinstall with fresh DV.
Run toner density Adj and Image density, or Grey scale adj.

Same theory on all machines, just called different things.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

yup. even if i change the seals, toner still leaks but still hoping that the toner flying/spill will be lessened.
          thank you nmfaxman.
