    MPC305SPF adding watermark in driver

We have a client with the above mentioned, on one pc only it was printing with the ORIGINAL watermark on everything even though the option within the driver was set to none. The preview within the watermark tab showed it there and if a different watermark is chosen (ie confidential) it changes fine but if none is chosen again and it will remain confidential etc. This was using PCL5 drivers so I uninstalled and tried PCL6 to the same result. I ended up just deleting every watermark in the driver and that stopped it occuring but would like a different solution as the client requires the watermarks for other things and if one is added it automatically prints even when not selected. Anyone else some across this or something similiar? I tried searching and didn't find anything.

I've had this issue before, you'll need to turn off the watermark within Word. I can't remember the exact steps (was a while ago) but I think it was in the page layout tab. I believe different versions of word will have it in different places.

I should have added the driver was the first thing I checked and the word settings were the second. Everything was off. It was doing it with random pdfs as well but not for some others, hence it driving me crazy. I'm heading back to the client in a couple of days and will try again.

Haven't seen this before, but you might try going into 'print server properties' of the 'devices and printers' section and deleting the drivers from there and then reinstalling. If you delete the driver just from the printers page, the driver still resides on the pc. There may be a corrupted file still residing that's common to both drivers.
You also should try printing from a generic hp driver, that way you can determine if the app is producing the watermark.

If you access to it, you can also use printmanagement.msc to delete a printer driver completely.

You did check the Adobe Acrobat settings as well? Acrobat requires patience and thoughtfulness if it is to print properly.

Yes did within there as well. Acrobat requires more than patience that I've noticed, I think I prefer pulling teeth

Thanks guys I forgot about the driver staying, I can get admin rights for the computer so will try that and a generic driver when I get back out.

One other method to verify if the problem is driver related: Print to file, then use a PCL viewer to see if the watermark is there.

A lot more geeky, I know, but that's just how I roll.
