How to use SD-PCMIA Card Adapter for Firmware upgrades
How to use SD-PCMIA Card Adapter for Firmware upgrades
Has AnyBody used The SD-PCMIA card adapter for firmware upgrades on older model Ricohs and Laniers eg. LD118 etc. If so what is the procedure. The superceeds the old type PCMIA cards.
Regards.

I doubt the ricoh software will recognise that kind of card but I´ve never tried it out. lets wait and see what the other techs have to say. why do you want to use that type of card, PCMcia 8Mb cards are so cheap.

There is just a little confusion on terms here. Early Ricohs used a 4MB PCMCIA card to update firmware. You can use a Cardbus controller or your lapop which almost always has a PCMCIA card slot. Then you need the MCE Ricoh software to install the .bin files onto the card.
Later and present machines use an 64MB SD card and you can simply drag and drop .fwu files onto the card in a particular format. On some machines you will need 2 cards because there is so much firmware.

OK. Liverpool lost so i`m pissed off, Al, I didn´t say it had to be a 8Mb card, I send a 8Mb card was cheap, listen if you still using a 64Mb I feel sorry because you could be using a 1Gb card with no problem, thats what I use for more than 2 years, HEHEHE $5.00.
Did you all realise that we haven´t answer Jonny question, he only wants to know if he could use PCMcia SD card adapter, we all know we need MCE ricoh software ver.110 for windows XP, so lets be more helpfull.
Thanks to all you guys. In respect of Liverpool, next year theres more.

I thought it was V1.10, then a patch V1.11, and finally XP V1.00.
johnny32,
I haven't tried the sd-pcmcia card to upgrade firmware on an older machine, but I am very interested to know if it works.
It works.
Re: the patch, I remember now, initially, MCE Ricoh came on 3 disks and the patch updated those, then XP V1.00 came out on disk and needed no patch. Thanks.

Sorry if my question was unclear. I have always used PCMcia cards without problem. I am also aware that i need MCE Ricoh software.
I was just questioning if somebody has used the Ricoh Sd card - PCMcia adapter part no: B645-6705 on older ricoh machines and if it works.
I have one but rarely use it as I have a cardbus controller in my computer at work. It is installed in a floppy drive bay. And for SD cards I have a panasonic usb to SD reader/writer.

I am curious to know if the SD PCMCIA adapter would work also. I rarely work that old of a machine but occasionally have had to check firmware and borrow from another tech, which is pain.
I did a search for some small PCMCIA cards a while ago and they were quite expensive.
Ricoh & Microsoft may pay the bills but Un*x saves my ass every day.
MCSE/CCNE/ENS and other crap...
Sometimes you need both, For the 1515 for example, the basic version uses a 4MB PCMCIA and the MFP version uses the 64M SD card.
I think the SD card can be generic but the PCMCIA card is formatted by Ricoh for this use.
I have a sh*t load of both.

I have both the 4MB older card and the sd card and adaptor, I can say with certainty that the new card does not work on the older units I am trying to update firmware which i recently got from TSRC and it wont work on the CL7000 and my old 4mb card I dont have a driver for and Vista wont install the driver either.
Also can anyone tell me how to enter protected service mode? (factory mode) c/m, 143, stop stop stop isnt working no matter how I try it.
I have the entire pdf manual and it does not list the procedure
