New CPU's and firmware in various Ricoh models

I thought this might be usefull to share.

After the earthquake and tsunami in Japan various Ricoh production facilities were destroyed. This caused problems in the production of engine boards. Ricoh decided to use a different CPU for this boards. These boards also use different firmware. Loading the wrong firmware will damage the board permanently.

This applies to the following models :

    MP6001/7001/8001/9001
    MPC6501/7501
    MP201
    SP3400/3410
    SP4210
    SP4310
    SP5200/5210
    SR3020/3030
    SR4010/20/30/40

So be carefull when you update firmware on these models or replace an engine board. See attachments for more information.

      Great info Eric!
I'd heard of the issue but was unaware of exactly which models were affected.
      Thanks!

            Just in regards to this,

I have a heap load of them down here which I look after, whatever you do, DO NOT DO THE ENGINE FIRMWARE ON THE MODIFIED BOARDS

I have killed at least 1 on every device listed by using the correct firmware for that board and I have not succeeded once. Everything else if fine to do, just not the engine firmware

              Hi,
Do you know ,if you replace the firmware Ricoh MP 201will solve the problem of the scan to folder on win 8.
Because this model does not support this option.
              Thanks.

No, you will just destroy the controller boards. The latest version of system on MyRicoh is 1.05 released in late 2012, and doesn't show support for Windows 8. I would recommend you upgrade to Windows 7 instead.

Also, if anyone updates the firmware and doesn't read the technical tips, then they aren't an engineer I would like to meet.
