As rsyarcia mentioned if you could provide more info you gonna get to the point answer.

Toner dusting inside the machine was an issue with this series ,PM life does matter when you have toner dusting, specially(Developer, DV seals,Drum seals,Mylars) allot depends on Toner itself if it isn't OEM,and make sure you have correct and up to date firmware.

      Good luck

May i suggest a through PM as well as changing the developer as well?

My experience with this machine was that if the developer has impurities (paper dust/ hardened toner), it can cause the problem you mentioned, though not always the case.

Also, with the problem you mentioned, the printout from the machine may be slightly dirty (or smudged).

Also, check the cleaning unit for the machine.

problem sounds like its development related, how much has the developer done so far?

Don't think its developer related. The poster specifically said the glass strip by the drum gets dirty soon after cleaning it, although he hasn't responded to say how many copies the machine has done, I suspect its a high mileage machine. I'm having exactly the same issue on an MP6500, and I know whats causing it. The toner hopper is overfilling with toner, filling up so much its building up the pressure in the hopper and toner is blowing past the seals and onto the glass strip which is next to it. Should be pretty messy around the bottle holder and inside the front cover. Unscrew and swing out the bottle holder, looking at the hopper entrance, is the toner up to the rim ?

Yes rza, indeed it is. However, I believed your statement was refering to the actual life of the developer powder which I believed to not be the cause, as opposed to the reason I gave.

Would be nice if original posters occasionally responded to questions. Why do we take the time and bother to help if they never reply. If they don't answer, we can't help and we have wasted our time.

                      Dusting in this machine.

I agree dev related.... Normally someone has forgotten to put the dev filter back in the dev unit. Also change the air flow filters, all 3 of them .
If the dev seals have failed then your see a pile of dev under the dev station ready to move down and take out all 3 paper feed stations. ( oh Joy ).

                      Good luck.........
