    MP2500 Duplex jams

I've got this machine at my shop that jams nearly every page when duplexing multiple pages . It's flawless for singles
The code being logged is 60, which states that 'paper does not reach the registration sensor (during reverse-side printing)'. Might that indicate that the registration sensor is a bit flaky, or another one?
I updated the firmware on a whim, just in case it might be a timing issue, but that didn't help.

When it happens, the duplexed sheet stops about 3/4 of the way out of the machine, which is just when the next page is going up to the inverter. To me, it almost seems like the gate engages just a bit too early (sometimes) and catches the trail edge of the page that's exiting the machine, because it actually stops it just for a second and the jam occurs.

I know it's probably going to be a simple fix, but right now it's driving me nuts!

    It's Friday...time for a cold one!

Run a single sided copy and lay that copy on the glass.
If there is more than 15mm curl, it is the cheap ass paper.

Had one account that was catching the front corner and jamming.
I flipped the paper around and it started catching on the rear edge.
Couldn't prove it better to the customer.

Color is the Porsche of copiers.
Why are you putting regular gas in it???????????????????????
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Have you tried running it with different orientation or from different tray,
does it happen from the both trays?

If machine has half a million clicks on it,it's time to Inspect, clean or replace (Feed,Relay and Registration Clutches)
      Gets sticky sometimes,

Or may be Slipping roller in duplex unit itself.

      GOOD LUCK.

Possible, I'd re-tension those springs slightly, those gates also can get funny, ie sticky and not working ok. Good luck.

Thanks for that. Which guides are you referring to? The inverter? The exit guide does look quite warped
Thanks to the others for the ideas too, it's amazing how one can still develop 'tunnel vision' on some of these issues.
The machine will duplex all day long, from either tray, if I run it SEF (I'm embarassed that I hadn't tried it), but jams nearly every page on LEF. I'll just leave the trays set that way. I'm OK with that.

The machine only has 30K on it, so it's not a question of worn rollers, etc.

Is it dogearing any of the jammed papers on the LEF ? I think I had this once on a new delivery machine, but it was dogearing also. Found that the cassette sidefences were ever so so slightly out of position, one way or the other, and the edge of the paper was catching sometimes in the duplex.

Thanks, but no, it never dogears. Just stops

I always use floss on my gums instead of sandpaper. It's a lot less painful

Have you checked the exit sensor? What do the input checks show when the machine is in a jammed state for each sensor along the path?

Replace the whole duplex unit and you're done.
