    MP 2852

    HI Guys

I have 2 MP2852 that are giving me trouble.

On the one only the power light in the top right hand corner comes on. We have received a bulletin stating that there is a problem on some of the controllers with a certain chip number, that cause this problem. Same with some of the IPU board. I have now changed both these. Now the screen at least comes on but only shows please wait. Also there is a relay on the PSU that keeps engaging. on/off/on/off. If you turn of the machine it does give you the "Machine is shutting down please wait 2 minutes" message

The other one does exactly the same, Also with a new controller. But his relays are not engaging. Just shows the Please Wait message.

I have disconnected both machines HDD.

    Any ideas??

I have one that is booting, then just before the PLEASE WAIT turns to a Home screen - it throws a SC672.

That I can still handle, but the twist is that you can hear relays click on the low voltage psu, with about 2 second intervals.

I'm thinking that the PSU is the cause but am still waiting for tester boards to arrive....

On older machines this was a symptom of a bad HDD. Try disconnecting the HDD. If it then boots to the home screen, then replace the HDD.

I have one doing the same thing. replaced controller, IPU, PSU. Now tech support is saying NVRAM. What was not connected that you were able to solve your issue?

                  Voltage,
                  Thanks for the reply
Was that the ribbon cable on IPU? I'll be sure to check them again before we replace the NVRAM.

As you said the ribbon cables to the IPU were not seated correctly. Machine came to ready then SC899. Updated firmware that went well until the scanner update failed. Always remember to make sure the print/scan dimm is in the unlock position.

If SC 672 -replace the controller.
If it displays Please wait and no error -replace ipu board.

I had one last year with a blue light failure. The board on the lens holder assembly was bad. Machine had less than 100 copies.
