[Jamming] MP4001G: Jam Code J019 - Fusing Exit (On)

The leading edge of the paper attempts to enter the fuser but stops and is folded in half. The trailing edge is still in the PCU. I confirmed that all the motors and clutches were working properly with output checks. The fuser was replaced and firmware updated. Not sure if it is an IOB or fusing motor issue although the fusing motor seemed to test ok. Any ideas?

Have you confirmed that the fuser is in fact turning? Sounds like the hotroller is not turning and that is why the paper is forced to fold over...

The fuser is turning on intermittently, I can print the counter page on occasion, multiple page printing seems to be a real issue.

I would check out the SMC jam counters / latest jam locations in SP for clues first.

Could possibly be a faulty/dirty fusing entrance sensor (it does get caked in toner between PMs) or the fusing exit sensor.

The bridge unit push switches can also cause random ' blink and your miss it ' engine jams... they show up as ' power on ' jams on the SMC.
Normally tapping on the bridge unit covers will tell you if you have a bad push switch.

            FIXED!

The stripper pawls on the PCU were bad. After trying a new PCU and getting the MFP to work, I observed the difference between the two PCU's and reproduced the error by taking the pawls off the new PCU. Something about "theory of operation" is missing in my analysis...you think?
