    [Error Code] MPC3300 Laser Error

I have a MP 3300, another tech has been working on it and now I have ownership of the problem.
Machine boots up with an error 204 Polygon motor error XSCRDY signle error. Looking in the logs there is also a 492 Hi Voltage leak with it. On examination the yellow drum has toner covering it.

Once before I had the 492 error, the brass bushing e-clip fell off the developeing unit right into the HV contact, no easy fix this time though. The machine did not have these problems before a toner pump and drum were changed. I am slow to blame boards, and since the codes happened at the same time I tend to think they are related and the problem should be simple and just something I am missing.

Just looking for suggestions, it's got me stumped.

If the machine is booting up straight into polygon mirror motor SC or a blank ops display, then you are probably looking at needing a new polygon mirror motor.
(I've replaced a few, they do occasionally fail without warning).

Of course I would also do a visual check of the yellow PCU and the terminals at the rear of the machine.
They may of been some accidental damaged caused when the toner pump was replaced.

But it's more than likely just the polygon causing your problem.

      Re: MPC3300 Laser Error

It has been known that if a tech isn't careful when routing the wires for the toner pump it's very easy for the ITB unit to catch them and short to the frame. I would assume it would be possible for a pcu to do the same. Just something I heard.....

I'd start by looking at the duplex grounding too

I agree, ive had an email from our tech spec who advised the ptr housing springs where it pivots, can pop out of place causing grounding and could cause bias leak codes. Check there on right and also the wire harness.

Yep, been caught out on that one as well, check the duplex / paper transfer unit grounding springs.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I replaced the pollygon motor.

I will bow to your greatness. Thanks! that was the problem, both springs were off.

Go to the duplex to fix laser error, what next? that would have taken a while to find without a suggestion.

Been at this a long time and every time I start to think I am unstoppable a machine will bring me back to reality.
