I feel like yahoo is monkeying with their settings

anyone know if GMX requires SSL?
Since Yahoo hosted AT&T which required SMTP over SSL, I believe that Yahoo does also.

Up date switched to GMX. Won't say it works great, but with Yahoo messing with settings and what not felt I had to do something.

One thing Yahoo is now doing is you have to log in every 3 months on the that account or it goes inactive.

Main problem is a stated a lot of spam filters disallow a GMX address.

Got around that by replying to a sent email but not 100% seems to still get filtered out occasional.

Any one know if there is any Gmail SMTP that is not SSL?

I haven't had a problem with yahoo for the last couple of years until this past week, and the 'occasional login' thing isn't new.
So, while this may not be the suggested/recommended way of doing things, the fact of the matter is, being the 'one man show' that I am, and most of my clients being small - medium sized offices, they simply 'want me to make it to work'.

          So....
When I have no other option but to use Yahoo, I don't create a new account each time, but rather, I just use the credentials from the single Yahoo account that I've created, and I have a reminder setup for myself to login once every couple of months to keep it active.

My guess is you can't recreate the account so you would have to create a new account and then make the changes to ever machine you are using it on.

I recommend trying really hard to not delete that account.

Big problem with GMX is spam filters. If everything is local no problem, but I have a customer who has a field office and they have to contact IT. (Which takes 24 hours).

I assume gmail does not have an SMTP that is not SSL.

For gmail without SSL use aspmx.l.google.com on port 25. You can only send to another gmail account or if you are using Google Apps mail to anyone in your domain. For more information goto: Sending mail from a printer, scanner or app - Google Apps Help

I have a couple of schools using this method. They email to themselves and then forward adding addition information they need.

If you were using a Yahoo subscription account to be able to access with Outlook, Thunderbird, or another email program, Yahoo will cancel if you missed their notice to renew.
