    MP171 SC982

    Hi Guys

I have a MP171 base machine that will every now and then go into SC 982. Localization error: Set SP 5807. I will then set the SP to the correct location setting and the machine will work, but the counters reset to 0 which is a big problem? I do not see any battery on BiCU board.

    Replace BiCU?

you have something zapping your NVRAM, that is where the counter is kept. Controller, BICU, or maybe a high voltage issue. Will it make a copy?

Yes, after i set SP 5 807 it works fine. It actually went into SC551 this afternoon. Could reset it. Took out all the plugs out of the BiCU and plugged them back in to reset it. It switched on again but then went into the SC 982 code again. I set SP 5 807 again and its working now.

      Thanks

Wonder if your nvram is not cooked - cause why else would it lose the settings?

Ja, Think so too. And now i have 2 MP301s that will freeze when its in energy saver mode and receives a print job. When you switch the machine off and on it goes into SC144.
