SPC 242dn - ms word and envelopes

Hey all I dread little printers and more over when the issue is envelopes wrinkling. Heres my issue this printer for some reason has sensors on the fuser pressure levers for envelope feeding. It wont run if they are down on normal paper or up on envelopes. So my issue customer is using ms word mailings to make envelopes, when they click to print they get the options screen to choose envelope size, and direction and tray, not paper type as it assumes its an envelope, however it is not telling the printer that its an envelope so if you try to lower the fuser levers you get the check fuser env. levers error message, it will only print them with the levers in the plain paper position problem is this causes the envelopes to wrinkle really bad.

The only way i got it to run one was to go into the printer prefrences from the control panel and set the type, size, and tray and then go back to word and try it, but you have to go back and change the paper stuff again for normal printing which is obviously to much work for the customer to remember. Anyone know if there is a solution, i doubt M$ has an update for this specific ms word issue for this printer, i didnt see any firmware release for newer windows issues. Driver is the only thing i can think of but not sure that is much help either.

Is there a way to disable the sensors for the levers/and or change printer settings on the machine.

I don't think you can use the tray for feeding envelopes, I think they are single feed from the bypass. I did one earlier in the week, told the machine DL was in the bypass and gave the customer the joyous news it was single feed. Maybe an SP4310 with a lower tray and envelope feeder option is an idea?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.
