I am having a jamming issue of sorts. I arrived at the customers location and noticed that they knocked out the paper detect sensor from tray 1, I reinstalled the sensor and tried to make some copies. The mfp comes to ready, I press the copy button and the mfp shows an A1 jam. The paper does not even pull from the tray. I tried tray 2, same issue, I run the bypass it passes a copy. I looked to see if all the jam switches were in place and they seem to be in place. Any suggestions on a possible fix or idea?

Re: Ricoh mp c2550
What jam codes exactly are you having? A1 doesn't mean much for engineer, it's more for a customer. Check the "plotter jam history" in SP mode to find out the actual jam code, i.e. 003, 004 etc.
Try to make a copy from tray2 with tray1 removed - you will see if the feed roller rotates at all. If not - have a look at the back of the machine and check the paper feed drive mechanism.
It could also be a problem with a friction pad. If the roller turns, but does not feed a paper and makes a funny noise - this is it!
Good luck -

Thank you, Gasior78. I have run the mfp with tray 1 out, I replaced the feed and sep rollers on the paper tray a few weeks prior. I have not got into the back of the mfp. I will get a list of jam codes and will open the back of the mfp and inspect the drive assembly. Thank you for your insight.Comment

Re: Ricoh mp c2550
If you haven't checked the condition of the paper in each drawer, I'd do that before tearing up the machine, especially if you replaced the feed rollers recently and the machine worked properly.
Nonfeeds from both drawers is a good indication that the paper is suspect.
Check to make sure there isn't some ream wrapper glue holding the top sheets on the stack together, or some sheets at the bottom of the stack have their corners folded under at the leading edge. Bring an unopened ream of known good paper and try that. Sometimes loading the paper ream wrapper seam side up works a little better, but I haven't seen that be a major issue for some time around here.
I've missed problems caused by the condition of the paper similar to this, and experienced frustration and the unnecessary cost of labor and parts replacement that didn't help. I am suggesting this so hopefully you won't.Comment

Re: Ricoh mp c2550
Thank you both for your insight. I went back to the customer today and got the paper to feed from tray 2, fresh paper, however, the mfp still jams from tray 1. I marked the feed roller and the gear, on the tray, and they do not turn, so I swapped the tray 1 and 2 feed motors, still with the same result. I loosened the tray 1 drive assembly and turned by hand, no broken gear teeth, however I do believe there is a clutch/ solenoid that drives tray 1 in the drive assembly and feel that this may be the issue. I do not know the part # or of a siple way to remove that drive assembly, it looks like a bear due to the fact there is a metal support in the way of the tray 1 drive assembly.Comment
