Ricoh Aficio 1113 Image rubbing off

    Dear Ricoh gurus,
I have the above machine with this problem: Counter Reading is 137,000 copies. The image comes out clear, but part of it towards the leading edge or upper margin is not fixed on the paper. In other words it can be rubbed off; it would appear as though part of the upper heater roller is not having enough heat to melt and fix the toner on the paper or the pressure on the rollers is not sufficient to do its work.
WHAT I DID: I replaced the following components after suspecting that they had reached the end of their service life. Upper heater roller, Lower pressure roller (The old one had one end wrinkled...corresponding exactly to where the image was rubbing off), and even the Developer. But the problem persists. I entered the service program and adjusted the Temperature from 'standby value' 175 deg to 190 deg.
Still problem persists. However, have noticed that after the machine has made about ten copies or so, it tends to improve on the image i.e not rubbing off, but not much. I even adjusted the position of the pressure spring to 'add' more pressure on the rollers, no joy. I am totally stuck as of now.

Any on this issue is highly appreciated.

Replace the bushings of the Pressure Roller. They have a tendancy to wear. I replace them every 120k. Also put a little Barrierta grease on them when you replace them.

Look at the frame of the fuser, they break can cause this issue

Thanks gentlemen for the quick response. I have already contact a tech friend of mine working with Ricoh dealer here and he suggested the same thing...replacing the bushings, and has promised to avail me the items. As soon as I replace those parts and do the 'frame check', will post the results. I confess those bushings being 'small' I couldn't suspect them.

If you take a good look at the bushings you'll see some wear. It's not much, but enough to cause fusing problems.

When you remove the bushings, you will see that they are open ended on the one side, and when you hold them end to end you can see if they are unevenly worn - which normally causes your symptoms.

Well, my Ricoh techie friend has just delivered to me a pair of brand new lower pressure bushings, part no.G029-4174 sealed in its pack; Since the time is now after 5:00 pm here I will work on the machine tomorrow. Do I need to readjust the fuser temperature back to the initial value of 'standby' 175 deg? But NO 'Barrierter grease', can silicon fuser oil work instead? I will post a feed back here. thank you all for your input.

                  Hi there!
Change back the temperature, and no oil on the bushings.
                  Greetings...

Update! I have just replaced the bushings a few minutes ago, and the fault got cleared instantly; machine producing perfect copies. A close examination of the old bushings indeed revealed that one of the bushings was 'eaten up'...worn out. Thank you all very much for your help.

You are right polarbear, I did a visual inspection and saw one of the bushings...the one on the side causing the problem was indeed worn out. It is not easy though for a 'novice' to detect this. I readjusted temperature back to initially value. I applied no grease on the bushings since i didn't have. Thank you all for the help.
