There should be an optional "oil roller " in the parts manual you can also try. Went down this road with the Ricoh folks, they knew about it and Ricoh japan isn't going to fix it...............They just put out a new model instead.............

The noise comes from inside the heat sleeve. I have to agree...that machine looked OK on paper but they should have never put in production. Poo it is!

Replacing the fusing sleeve is the only thing that's worked for me.

Would be nice, but in Sunny South Africa the whole fuser is cheaper than the sleeve assembly! Cannot figure that out.

Replacing the whole fusing unit is in effect replacing the sleeve assembly.

Ahh! You fellas just save my hyde! Thanks for the insight. This was my issue. 60 rpm fuser/exit area groan. 120 rpm. No groan. Lubed the inner shell of the NEW sleeve and it made it quiet down!

So, did you manage to replace the sleeve unit or just lubricate the old one?

I ask you this, because I wasn't able to replace the sleeve unit itself, it is very difficult.
So did you manage to replace only the sleeve roller?

Mark Bbb you can take apart the assembly and lubricate the bar that sits behind the sleeve (where it contacts the pressure roller). Once you have the one side brackets off and lamp out, hold the assembly vertically and slide the sleeve about half way off. Apply lube on the inside of the sleeve and repeat with other side (after attaching the bracket for the first side). This way both sides get lube and the sleeve does not come off all the way. While you are busy check the applicator bar (behind the sleeve) as sometimes the material on it tears loose and sags which causes a handbrake action on the sleeve as well.

Just to chime in, the oil supply roller option that was mentioned earlier is my go-to for stopping/preventing these noises. We were finding that the greasing-the-sleeve option was only working temporarily, and for a while we were just replacing the sleeves, but this is quicker and easier (barely cheaper than a sleeve though!)

So you are saying that adding the oil supply roller is taking away a noise that is caused by a dry applicator INSIDE the fusing sleeve assembly?

I struggle to understand how this works....

I had this noise too with a perfectly good sleeve,so i ended up using the high temp white grease i get with the HP4200/4300 fuser
kits"you can find it on ebat".I used a big piece of cardboard and mapped out every screw, clip etc on the cardboard and then reassembled it..
Wasnt that hard but can be confusing if you dont watch everything.

I had around 5 MPC 2051 Copiers with above issue.

I change SP mode values and no noise after it.

                              SP1-121-001 ([Switch:Rotation Start/Stop] Time:After Reload) [100] →[0]
                              SP1-121-002 ([Switch:Rotation Start/Stop] Time:After Recovery) [10] →[0]
                              SP1-121-003 ([Switch:Rotation Start/Stop] Time:After Job) [10] →[0]

I tried with multiple fuser units those machines but no luck.
SP mode value changes solved my issue

                              Thanks for your help
