CL7200 - toner level reset, is it possible?

I have a Ricoh Cl7200 print that doesn't seem to properly reset toner levels. It gave me the replace toner on a fairly new cartridge (and webpage showed red/out of toner). After trying to shake and reinsert, which didn't work this time, I put a brand new one in. It accepted it, but on the web page it only shows 1 (of 5) green bars or that its low on toner. O, and the old toner weighed as much as the new one (1.55 lb) so I think it's still full of toner.

Searched the internet I haven't found any help. Noticed another post on this site where someone told how to reset a drum count using simulations or SP mode. Any chance there is way to reset the toner level?

How many prints has it done? When was the last service? If ever. It could be many things, including but not limited to: (depending on how this model feeds toner) faulty pump/blocked pipes, needs replacement developer, or faulty toner catridges. Which toners say they are low all the time?

      Counters: Total - 118679; b/w-83309; color-35370; A3/DLT-8775; Duplex-12126; at least that's what the printer says.

Service history? Hmm. I can only really account for the last 1-2 years under the current owner. No maintanence except replacing toner and some cleaning. It hasn't been used a whole lot either; probably a few thousand page only. And I think only the black toner has been replaced, a couple times. It does have a problem with color in that after a few pages it starts getting ghosts, some get bad. So we mostly use it for b/w which seems fine. I know that the previous owner got it under a lease, but I guess that had ended. I also know the previous owner refilled toner cartridges or bought them cheap on ebay. He probably did his own maintenance after the lease ended. Beyond that I don't really know it's history. O, and the store was closed by the state (for unpaid taxes) and this was one of the items they siezed. The store bought it back at auction. I don't think it had the problem with color ghosts before the siezure.

I think somewhere I got the impression it used an auger system to move toner. But other than the color ghosts I mentioned, it prints good so I don't think toner transport is the problem. If it uses developer, I'm not aware of that. Something for me to look into, but I would think the print quality would suffer it that was it. The cartidge for this is basically a gravity box with a reset chip, and for me to have 2 (possibly 3) in a row bad would be pretty rotten luck. Also even though I do refill cartidges for some of the other printers these are brand new ones, and not cheap ebay ones either. I got burn by some ebay cartridges before so I only buy new. I think these were from Amazon.

At this point the store doesn't have a lot of money to put into the printer, which is why I haven't tackled the color ghosts yet. I'm pretty much voluteering my time because the owners a friend.

Maybe I'll go hunting for a good service manual that tells about the simulations/SP mode settings. I'm starting to think that that might be where the problem is. Maybe the previous owner messed with them. Since it seem to partially reset, maybe there's a setting he change or that got corupted.

There is no Sp mode that will solve this issue. \Resetting drum counts is a very different thing.
Although you say these are "not cheap ebay" cartidges, are they actual OEM /Ricoh ORIGINAL brand? Or a compatible/Generic version.
I have a feeling that they are not Original brand, and that the problem is with the aftermarket chips installed on them.
BTW, while compatible /refill toners are fine for many other makes of printers/ copiers, that's generally only true for mono-component, black & white printers. Yours is a dual component (Yes, that means it has Developer units), and the compatible toner will eventually come back to bite you (HARD!) -That is, if it isn't already.
