Unfortunately, I have a Savin C2525 I have to maintain. I think it's the same as a Ricoh MPC2500 or something like that. I need to get to the black toner feed to clean it out, at least I think that is the problem. It thinks it is out of black toner. I have the service manual, but so far haven't found where they hid information on this section of the machine. I'm a Sharp tech mostly and simply don't know how Ricoh has there manuals layed out. If someone could tell me where in the manual this is I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Re: savin c2525 black toner feed
This problem is mostly caused by a defective Toner Pump. If you remove the Black PCU you will see the pump (2 screws and 1 connector). Also remove the Transfer Belt and the Magenta PCU to create some working space.
When you remove the hose from the pump, toner will come out, so make sure to use a cloth or something to prevent toner falling into the machine. -
Re: savin c2525 black toner feed
Hi.
When you've done it a couple of times you'll find it's a piece of putty. And we've had a bit of practice on these.
Just be glad it wasn't one of the old DSc models.... no fun at all.
You may also need to clean the sensor that sees the toner dropping out of the hopper, just above where the hose attaches to the hopper.
I have in the past replaced the toner pump to find the sensor was dirty and causing the problem
Good luck

Re: savin c2525 black toner feed
This model I find a little bit more complicated than the MPC3500/4500 although they are very similar. I always take the rubber hose off the back of the toner hopper to vac the pipe clear when replacing the pump. On the 3500/4500 and even on the 4000/5000 this is a simple matter of taking out the screws that lock the controller box in place and swinging it out the way. It's a bit more of a pain in the backside with these as you need to disconnect the harness from the scanner and there is a ribbon cable that runs down from the controller box to the IOB behind the PSU that needs disconnecting before you can swing the controller box out.
You can just replace the pump and take a chance that the pipe is clear, what I do is pull out all the PCUs and the ITB assembly to give myself as much room to work as possible, it's two screws, the rubber pipe and a two pin harness to the pump. The most fiddly part of the operation IMO is reconnecting the harness as the connector is right at the top of the PCU cavity.
You may get a message to the effect of "Independent Supplier Toner Fitted" if the customer has tried to load toner several times with the same bottle as I think that the machine writes the RFID chip as "empty" if several unsuccessful attempts are made to load toner with the same bottle. But this message can be disabled in SP mode, I don;t know the precise number but it's something like "Toner Refill Detection" in 2xxx or 3xxx.Comment

Re: savin c2525 black toner feed
I've only ever had one pipe blocked, I just change the toner pump, as said by someone else, it's really quite easy if you remove all 4 PCU's and the ITB assembly, just 2 screws and one connector. The connector can be fiddly to reconnect, but it's not a difficult job. Re: savin c2525 black toner feed
Well, so far I've replaced the pump, not with new, but with an assumed good one. Cleaned out the hose, twice, cleaned the sensor at the top end of the hose, took the toner feed assembly apart and cleaned it, disabled the toner fill detect, or whatever it's called and it still says there is no toner. Also tried a new cartridge just for grins. Didn't help. I guess I could rob another pump and try it. I really wish they would just buy a Sharp.I know I should be ashamed of myself. Re: savin c2525 black toner feed
Nooooooo, I worked on a few Sharp machines (badged by Xerox) years ago, and they were the worst built copiers I've ever had the misfortune to work on. Can I ask, when you close the front cover on your one with add toner does it attempt to load toner? If not, you'll find one of the covers (usually lower right) not fully closed. If it does attempt to load toner, fit a new pumpThere are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary maths and those who don'tComment

Re: savin c2525 black toner feed
Yeah, it's trying to load toner then shuts down after while and shows the add toner screen. I suppose I could have a bad board too. I know the machine I stole the pump from, was running when we stored it.I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.Comment
