    Ricoh MPC 6500 / 7500 Blury copies

    Hi

I keep getting Blury, smudgy copies on black units on a few MPC 6000 and 7500. Its like its got moisture on the drum as once its done a few hundred copies or warmed up in the day it goes. Is there any cure or has this fault been known before? I am thinking to get some moisture beads they have in packaging to put bu the black unit in the machine somewhere to help remove the moisture were having at the mo.

    Any advice would be cool.

Hi, this is most likely to be the air filter on the toner hopper unit being blocked, therefore not blowing enough air to ventilate the area between the black charge corona unit and drum, causing condensation to settle on the drum in that area. This filter on the right cover of the toner hopper unit. Take out the toner hopper unit (3 screws), look from the right side of the unit and you will see a small square cut out with a filter inside it. Clean it and the problem should be cured.
    Hope this helps.

There's another filter to clean in this case too. Take the machine's upper right cover - you'll see a white mesh filter, roughly in between by-pass tray and optics section. Use vacuum and job done. All the best.

There are anti condensation heaters you can enable.

We had this problem and replaced the drum(always the K drum) good reason to replace all the pm parts around this area and also installed a condensation heater in the optics area.

Hiya. Thanks for the advice. Cleaned all the filters and PM'd the black PCU including the drum. Hopefully that will do it but is enabling the condensation heaters an extra or to adjust an SP code to switch them on? Thanks for all your feedback as the filters were chocker. Tim.
