MPC 3001 - J064 duplex jamming - looking for some help

    Hey all,

I got a machine beating me to death here. Its a MPC 3001, been fighting it for months. Customer runs 11x17 booklets in this and my initial problems began in the fuser. First was the metal seperation bar in the fuser catching paper which was removed and replaced with a new exit guide per tsb with some mods to the fingers that came with it i seem to have worked out that problem. Now however its constant J064 jams, per goose guides this is a "Junction gate sensor does not turn off" code checked sensors. However im a little confused by term junction gate are they talking the gate above the fuser to divert to duplex or exit, or are they talking the pawl on the duplex door, I assume they mean the one above the fuser since its the only one operated by a solenoid, the small one on the duplex door (the one that warps) is just spring loaded in the up position until paper passes over top. The pawl above the fuser is operating fine, nothing is catching. What it looks like to me is when paper makes the duplex bend and reverses on 11x17 the very edge of the paper stops just after the sensor, and the next page passes overtop of it they actually touch eachother as new one comes into duplex and first one exits down, what i see is just as the new page enters and hits the sensor at the transport rollers it gets stuck I cant tell why exactly either the tail end is caught in the fuser/exit pawl or the transports arent grabbing.

    I did the following,
    updated firmware
    cleaned all transport rollers ALL*
swapped out the sensor in the duplex entrance
checked the pawls for any burs
cleaned out all the one way clutch gears front and rear sides of duplex door
    checked timing belts

Yet still i fight this jam, I am not sure if its the sensor above the fuser exit pawl or if the one way clutches just need replaced, or what is going on. Anyone got some insight or had a similiar issue?

    Thanks

I assumed that when you run single side with 11x17 fine. There are 2 things I came across on this model with the duplex jam code 64.

    1. OPEN/CLOSE duplex guide is warp due to the heat. Ricoh redesigned the guide plate by putting a metal bar in the middle.

    2. Fusing tension pinch roller is knocked out of position when the customer remove the paper jam.

I think this had the updated guide but it did look worn so i am ordering a new one, also ordering a new sensor, and clutches for the duplex. And for just in case a junction gate solenoid. I'll find out if any of that works in the next day or so.
