    Ricoh Aficio MP 3500

Customer sent out a large fax document on this copier and received a confirmation sheet once completed. It had an error that stated there was a line failure and only half of the document was actually sent. What could be causing this problem? Thank you for any help given.

Start by looking at the line to see if it's "clean" no noise etc. check the log to see if this is only happening to one number or many.
Have that number send you a fax back. Check to see if error correction is on try turning it off.
    There's a start.

Line failures are usually just that, the phone line the fax is connected to has failed. Not much the machine can do about that.
Sometimes you can use "onhook dial" to listen for audible fax problems problems like this. Or, maybe you can take a cheap handset and try to dial your office when you hook it up to the fax line and listen to what happens next.
Still, most likely you have the machine connected to a bad phone line.

Print out the report in fax sp, that will give you the detailed errors that you can then reference from the manual. And are they using a dedicated analog line or voip?

I was told there was a way to slow down the speed that the pages are scanned/faxed which helps when phone noise is an issue. Can anyone provide info on this and how it is performed???
          Thanks!!!

There are settings to slow the modem speed, but I think 'noise is noise' and is not related to speed.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
If the line isn't crisp, then it's a phone company issue, although I've had some success with a line filter and/or installing a choke on the phone chord when I experienced intermittent line errors.
BTW, how far away from the wall jack is the machine? Long chords (25+ feet), and/or low grade chords can give you issues.
Also, does this happen with multiple locations or just the one? It could be on the receiver's side.

also where is the recipient of the fax, outside of the U.S. poorer country will have a lot of noise on their end.
does this happen to other fax numbers too? if its just 1 number may have a problem on the receiving fax.
Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.

I have found that decreasing initial RX and TX speeds to 14.4 and turning of ECM has solved a lot of connection issues. Bit switch settings are in Fax SP modes.
