    That information is pretty thin, so don't expect any fast answers that work right away.
    Still, in the mean time you could try turning the machine completely off and then unplug it. If, after a half hour when you plug the machine in and turn it back on the machine works, it is a pretty good indication that power coming out of the outlet the machine is plugged into is unsuitable, and you should probably find out what is going on there.
    Maybe a line conditioner would help, but based on the information provided I'm not sure.
    I suppose you might try unplugging the hard drive from the controller, and if basic copy functions resume then the hard drive is bad.
    Still, it sounds more likely that the power from the outlet the machine is plugged into varies far too much for the machine. I would recommend you start there, for what it is worth.
