    Ricoh MPC 2030 Printing problem

    Hi guys,

i had encountered a problem that whenever i print from PC / Notebook (Window 7 in 32 & 64 bit), with user code features enabled, first few jobs are printing as expected, however after some time machine has no respond, no blinking from data LED.

Print job will only print out after i unplug and plug the cable / change of switch port and off/on machine.

i did try Ping command when job doesn't print out, there was a reply from machine.

does anyone have this issued before?

Don't trust the ping command, another device could have the IP of the copier. If the device is on a static IP, the next time it fails to print; unplug the copier and try pinging the IP again. If you get a response then you should change the IP or put the copier on DHCP and print using the hostname.

A static IP is always going to be your best option, also be sure that you're not assigning a static IP that is in the DHCP scope of your network. So if your DHCP range starts at x.x.x.30 then make the MFP x.x.x.29 to keep another device from trying to use the same IP since without a reservation the DHCP server doesn't know the IP is already assigned and tries to give it out.

Printing by host name on a DHCP system works quite nicely until your DNS cache goes screwy or your DNS name doesn't replicate properly since the admins forget to make an entry for it in the DNS table.

This might be off topic, but you might want to keep an eye out for flickering lights in your office too, in case there is a reoccurring disturbance in the power supplied from the outlet the machine is plugged into. That can cause all manner of problems for the machine, that can usually be corrected by turning the machine off and then back on.
(Also, the next time the machine stops printing correctly, try holding down the "#" and "*" keys for around ten seconds, and see if the machine resets itself and resumes printing.)

          Hi Guys,

thanks for all the advices and sorry for late respond on the result.

well, i can said this is the limitation on MPC2030 as it only happen on 64bits users with "user code" activated.

if i off the "User code" this problem will not happen and printer will print continously no matter how many jobs have been sent.

Anyone has better ideas or come across this problem?

When creating the user codes did you select the correct Function Permission under Auth. Info?

Give a user code permissions for all functions and give that a test. The only other thing it might be is you are trying to print using a PCL driver but without the PCL option installed. The RPCS (default print option) states it was updated in 2008, Windows 7 came out in 2009 (assuming the details on the driver download page are up to date).

Try looking in the copier web access page, in print jobs it will say why it failed ... possibly
