    [Error Code] Mp7500 sc991 sc834 sc998 sc672

    Hello there, gang!

This machine has given me a hard time with these kind of errors, and after swapping almost everything electronic on it with a known working machine, the problem got away after replacing the two 128Mb RAM modules on the vertical board at the back of the machine.

Now, roughly 3 months later, here it comes again. What are the odds of these DIMMs being bad again? I have no other DIMMs at hand to test it out, and I'm not so sure now that the DIMMs solved the problem in the first place.

    Any hints?

    I need a vacation!

did you try cleaning the contacts wth a pencil erasure and then alcohol?
i would take a pic of the mem chip and try to pick one up locally..google the info on chip
\probably same as a laptop memory and not as costly as buying from ricoh....
good luck i hate when i get these fixed problems reappearing.

      Thanks for the prompt feedback.

I did clean the memory contacts before starting this thread - with a pencil eraser only, not with the alchool though - but nevertheless, as the problem remained, I replaced the DIMMs with ones from another working machine (that I managed to find) to no effect.

I tried to remove the printer/scanner option (SDCARD + Extra DIMM) and left the machine working as a copier only, to no avail. The customer tells me the machine takes ten or fifteen copies and then crash-lands with a SC672.

Could be a firmware glitch, have you tried reflashing it?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

        Hit it.

Thanks for the tip. I forgot to mention - my colleague put in a new HD before I took the machine.

p.s.: SC672 we get even if the swith on the fax board is not set to on.

Thanks for the tip. The reason I swapped the memories was because I also noticed those codes to be closely tied with them.

Now the EEPROM is something that never had ocurred to me. Anyone knows if this EEPROM is used on any other model?

Although ultimately I wasn't the one who fixed the machine, I believe my colleague finally solved it by replacing all the memory dimms.

Can't remember what model of machine it was, but we had a machine that was throwing random SC codes (don't remember what they were) at a particular location. What it came down to, was that the wires to or between the various control boards were zip tied too tight and were getting crosstalk between the wires with the control signal pulses and causing the random error codes. Once the zip ties were cut and the wires loosened and separated, the random error codes disappeared. I am not saying this is the solution, but it could be. YMMV!
