    Ricoh Pro C651ex SC672 error

Looking for help with a Ricoh Pro C651ex with a SC672 error code. When we first looked at it it had an SD card sitting inside the cover not installed. When we first powered it up without that SD card in the service slot it just sits on the start up screen saying please wait and never gets past that. When we put the SD card in the service slot "the other option slot has a card in it already" it goes right to and SC672 error.

What do the lables on both cards say they are?? It's possible the card you found is a merged card to the card in the machine. In that case it shouldn't be installed in the machine.

      Hi

Have you tried starting it (without the spare sd card installed) and the hdd disconnected?

Most Ricoh boxes will sit at please wait if there is a hdd or memory issue and might eventually come up with a code later.

If it lets you boot, go and check the sc code history. This might also point you in the right direction.

Also if it boots without the hdd, reformat the hdd in a pc and then, reinstall and download stamp data as per hdd replacement proc. in the manual.

SC672: Controller to Operation error at startup.

        Controller Stall

        Controller board installed incorrectly

        Controller board defective

Operation panel connector loose or defective

The card in the #1 Option Slot says Security & Encryption Unit
The card in the # 2 Service slot is just a standard Transcend 2GB

I attached a picture of them.

          Thanks.

Upper SD slot is correct should have DOS/Encryption fitted.

Lower slot is for VM card and firmware updates only.

I suspect Transcend SD is a red herring.

Is this a new install or a re-install?

You may need to reload firmware, but check operation panel is connected correctly, 2 connectors!!!

This is a re install at a new location.
We disconnected the 2 hard drives and started it up with only the Security SD card in the upper slot and still just sits on the Please Wait screen.

But when we put the Transcend SD card in the lower slot and left the 2 hard drives disconnected it went right to a screen Preparing to start firmware update. Then the next screen, picture attached said PCcard - ROM No valid Data E24. I pressed Exit. Then it went right to the main screen, warmed up, and I was able to make copies. The whole time it was on the screen with PCcard and the main screen the error codes coming up were SC870, SC860, Problems with hard disk, and Address book data error.

                  Number of issues here.

try re-connecting HDD 1 at a time to see which is corrupt or Knackered. (Best to use external drive caddy to format bad HDD)

Suspect may have been connected to Fiery before so is waiting to re-connect if (SP5193-001 set to 1= Fiery Controller)

Formatting/replacing HDD, resetting SP5193 and updating firmware should resolve issues.

I did some more testing All of this was done with the Transcend 2gb sd card in the lower slot.
Tried connecting only the hard dive on top and it went right to the main screen, able to make copies, but all the same error codes, SC870, SC860, Problems with hard disk, and Address book data error.
Tried connecting only the lower hard drive same thing worked fine but same error codes.

Then I tried again connecting both hard drives and now it went to the main screen and came up with an SC878 error but made it past where it used to stop with the SC672.

I then tried the hard drives individually again and now they both go to the main screen and come up with the SC878 error.

Tried again with both hard drives disconnected and it would go to the main screen and make copies but all the errors SC870, SC860, Problems with hard disk, and Address book data error.

                      SC878 = Firmware authentication error.

As suggested above update all firmware and format HDD's.

                        C/o: SP5846-50 (reset address book) re:SC870

SP5832-6 (reset user info) this should have been done before leaving previous customer!!!

then if need be SP5832-001 (initialise HDD) re:SC860

I have done everything except reload the firmware because I don't have it. Would anyone be able to send me the firmware? Would appreciate it.

Thanks for all the help everyone finally got the SC672 and stalling on please wait fixed. Replaced the Main board twice and the 2gb dim was also bad.
Now I have a J054 jam. The paper goes through paper feed and just sits in the vertical paper path. It's not crumpled or jammed just sitting there loose.
Tray 1 works fine. I tried swapping the Tray 1 and Tray 2 paper feed sensors and then tray 1 still worked and tray 2 still had the same jam.
