    [Error Code] Aficio 5000b SC-997 when using scan only

    Hi. I have a Ricoh Aficio 5000b. All works great except scanning. When scanning it will send the scan through but remains in "processing" mode. This happens in scan to folder and email. If you attempt to puch the scanner button it will throw a 997. Have changed the memory chip. I hate to order a new controller if I dont have to. Any help?

      Sounds like a firmware issue to me. I'd update system and scanner firmwares at minimum.
      I know the MP2550/3350 series machines had this exact problem when there was a firmware mismatch between system and scanner firmwares. Certain versions didn't 'play nicely' with one another

                  Also make sure the system and scanner firmware are for the B version of this machine and not the standard version that can scan in colour. It almost sounds like one of those two could be the wrong flavour. You can tell which version is installed by the build prefix for the firmware.
