    @remote

    We are planning on implementing Ricoh's @remote to all of our machines that are capable of doing it. Is anyone running into issues with it? Generally what do you think of it. I personally think it is a great tool. What Do you think of it?

    I have been using it for a couple years , both the Embedded and the Appliance version , been working very well for me. There have been a few customers that dont want it , even after I explain it and send them the white paper , they just dont want us tied into their machine I guess.

      Same here, we currently only have about 30 embedded units out in the field and one Gate which monitors 75 plus devices. So far, I love it. Wonderful tool! I honestly feel that if a dealer is not using it, they are short changing themselves.

      I am currently having a problem with the gate though. A few months ago I found that it stopped seeing new machines after we installed them. I tried and tried to figure out what was going on. Tech support tried their best to, but no one could seem to figure out what was going on. A few weeks ago though, they released that TSB about the firmware issue. Well, that got me to thinking and sure enough - There was about a 2 month break in new installs at this account and I was messing around and updated the firmware on the Gate. So! I have to go out there and perform a A-A replacement on it. Great stuff!!

      I talked to Gregory Wright (he heads up the US @Remote system) and he told me that sometime, maybe this summer, they will totally revamp the interfaces of both systems. This will allow them to roll out the auto toner replenishment system, which I think will be nice. But, I also think the way the system works now is fine too, so...

      I did say something to Gregory about the I though the training material was out of date though. I haven't checked to see if it was updated recently. I took the course about six months to a year ago and when I started using the system, I was totally lost! I downloaded all the updated manuals and such, so that saved me there. But, as far as the training goes, it really does help to have a good understanding of how it works and what it is capable of.

      The first law states that energy is conserved: The change in the internal energy is equal to the amount added by heating minus the amount lost by doing work on the environment.

        I have about 100 embedded machines and 3 appliances that manage another 200 machines and one monitors another 350 printers or so at a hospital. Havent had the problem you described , and I have updated all of the Appliance firmware. I found my best training was just using the website and having an embedded machine at the office. I have the e-mails sent to my self and our machine service e-mail , so any down machine sends an instant e-mail. We had one machine e-mail in a fuser service code and we were at the customers door as they were placing a call on the phone, they were impressed ! Had another one at a school where we told them a tech was on the way as they were just placing the call for a fuser code.
