I have an MPC6000 that is blurring a small section of both prints and copies. It happens after the machine has sat for an hour or more and will go away if more than 50 copies are run. It only affects black, the colors are fine and it moves like it is a drum problem, but a new drum did the same thing. Developer, 150k and 300k kits have been replaced. I have also swapped the drum/dev unit, itb unit, paper transfer unit, fusing unit and all the drive motors. The problem will go away for a week at a time after I work on it. I am going to check drum ground next. If anyone has any other suggestions I would appreciate any help I can get.

Re: MPC6000 blurred prints/copies
We get this a bit. I always repl the k corona assy, and all the air filters - particularly the ones in the rear fan box unit. I think you will find it is Ozone gas remaining in the area around the coro does something weird for a few dozen copies to the drum surface and then clears.Comment

Re: MPC6000 blurred prints/copies
I've almost always found this caused by a thin sheen of condensation on the black drum. Usually during the summer when an A/C vent above the MPF blows cold air near the vent on the right side of the machine.
You can clean the condensation off the drum and it will go away for a while, or just run a bunch of copies/prints through and let the cleaning blades do the work for you.
Or, set the timers through User Tools to turn the machine on an hour and a half or so before the customer arrives in the office. That will give the machine time to warm up enough for the condensation to evaporate. This is what I usually do, then clean the drum off. I've yet to get a call back for the same problem after using this solution.Today's subliminal quote is:Comment

Re: MPC6000 blurred prints/copies
Try turning the tray heaters on. (You need to physically plug them in, they are fitted as standard)
It helps to reduce the condensation.
Don't forget to switch the auto-off mode (system settings) to a reasonable amount of time, depending on the environment and frequency of use. I go for 30 minutes in most cases.
The heaters only turn on when the machine is turned off and plugged in.Comment
