[Misc] Ricoh MP C3300 and MP C4000 toners question

We have a new customer with an MPC4000 who is completely out of toner. (not sure but probably a color toner) and we don't have any mpc4000 toners in stock. Someone suggested to take an MPC3300 toner cartridge and dump the toner and then pour it into the MPC4000 toner cartridge.

Althogh the drums and developer are listed as the same... the toners are not. Their logic is that the developers is the same so the toner should work fine.

Is it safe and/or ok to do this to get them up and running or should we wait until we have the right toner?

have never tried it but might be just the shape of the bottle if u r sure they both use the same part number for the developer. worst thing is you could mess up the dev unit and would have to vacuum out all the pipes and hopper before replacing it with the correct toner. let us know if it works.

you can refill the toner from mpc3300 to mpc4000 and vice versa. They only have different bottle.

It's the client's responsibility to order toner. The machine first gives a message "Toner almost empty". At that moment there's enough time to order a new toner. You can try to fill the empty toner, but it's just giving a mess... Just deliver the right toner and teach the customer to order toner when the display says "Toner almost empty".

Agreed! What a messy, labour intensive waste of time - Especially with a so-called "new customer".

Turned out they weren't out of toner. So we didn't have to try this. I am sure it would have worked.
