MPC300 (SR) LCD black and will not wake up from energy Saver

Hello all, I hope everyone have a good day. I have this machine doing the wackiest thing on me. Brand new only have 30 pages total. The machine light lid on but lcd is pitch black. I have to pull the power cable and cut off the main switch and power back then it will come back.

So far, I have updated all firmwares per the bulletin on powersave to F17. I replaced VGA board on the LCD and still no luck. Have anyone seen this problem before?

    current Firmware versions:
    Engine v102.02
    POWERSAVER vF17
    SystemCopy v2.07

I followed bulletin 006 on TSRC website and still did not work.

    Any suggestions will be appreciated

I would update the LCD firmware, pay close attention, I believe there is 2 of them you need to do and in the correct order.

or disable auto sleep and auto shut-off modes completely although your fuser will not go near threshold.

thanks for the tips. I have tried those methods without any luck. I disabled auto-off and energy saver off. The firmwares are all up to date on the machine. What kind of order should it be updated?

yo greyfox, you mean this issue is similar to that of existing models?

certain models, such as MPC5000 does have an issue of pitch black LCD (ops panel lights up), its root cause is Polygon motor not spinning up and it shorts the BCU/BICU.

Also see if you can get in to the WIM (Web Image Monitor). If you can, the status will show if there are any SCs. The problem with the BICU will be indicated by any SC on the polygon motor. Replace both the BICU and the polygon motor.

Just had this same issue on August 21st with a MPC 4000. A new polygon mirror motor and BICU resolved the issue.

Seems like the polygon issue is quite wide-spread (throughout a wide range of models)!

I recently had the same (turned out it was an SC-202, not visible due to blank display) on as far as I remember an MP2852.

I have come across it on some midrange MPC models as well. There they speak of a modified polygon (different part number) that supposedly not do this again...!

Re: MPC300 (SR) LCD black and will not wake up from energy Saver

There is a upgraded mirror motor for the MPC2800-3300 series. This is covered in bulletin 21R. New style is AX060396

For the MPC300/400, the mirror motor issue is SC 240-SC241. Ricoh recommended solution is to replace the entire laser unit housing (the mirror motor is not a service part on this machine) and to replace the power supply (not the BICU). I have had to do this a couple of times and it fixed the machine every time.

I don't believe this machine has the mirror motor issue tho as the OP has not posted about a SC240-241.
