    Savin 8075/9070 Developing Issue

I have a problem with the Large Black & White Savin models that as the machine is printing the developing unit will produce light developer accumulation on one side of the mag roller causing toner build up in the reservoir in front of the drum. Has anyone seen this and does it usually mean a new mag roller or developing unit all together. I have tried different settings and changing the developer with no luck. Thanks for the help.

    Crappy Clumping Toner???....LOL!

I had something similar to this where it seemed like the toner/developer was clumping where the the mag roller deposits the developer back into the developer case...there was basically a blockage where the developer rotated back into the development case and the developer/toner was "shedding" off the mag roller into the trough of the PCU causing streaks on the paper. I just used a piece of mylar to dislodge the clump location and vacuumed out all of the loose toner. Be sure to make sure the filter is vacuumed clean on the development case so it can "breathe", otherwise you'll be vacuuming out loose toner again that the auger inside chuffed out! Let me know if it works!

Check the mylars on the dev unit. You might have a tear or wear. How old is the drum/corona? If they're old (or if the corona is dirty) you can get arcing on the drum that can mess things up. The cleaning brush can be bunged up, too. But we might just be seeing crud clumping behind the doctor blade.

I wouldn't expect it to need a new dev unit unless you're way past 2 million or so.

I've not seen this much on the 8075 savins but the larger 4090, 8090 savins I would often get a build up on the doctor blade that cause light streaks.

The 8075s would often need developer changes and I only replaced the DV unit when they finally started to leak (brilliant idea to have all the feed clutched lined up right under the DV unit...)

Just for kicks, make sure your floor is level. Place a level on the exposure glass to make sure its not tilting to the front or back.
