    [Error Code] SAVIN C9135

All I have a networked SAVIN printer that continously spools a job and then errors out. When I look at the Windows print server, the job reaches the server just fine but it stops spooling to the printer and errors out. I can see the file size stop while spooling. I had suspected something network related, but I don't see any dropped packets at the switch, nor do I see any problems with any of my other Savin Printers. I have tested all of the wires and they are good. When I print to the printer using a universal HP driver, it works but not all of the items on the page get printed. I have tried postscript, and other PCL drivers and nothing seems to help. I moved a copier from downstairs, and plugged it in upstairs and it displayed the same problems. I have moved it to another location on the floor and that didn't help. Per other threads on the site, I have changed the duplex settings and have not seen any improvement. The print logs on the printer says "error:91 the job was reset" . I have confirmed that printing directly to the printer does work. I have several SAVIN's and I have not had any problem like this with any of them. Can you help, what kind of settings should I be looking for? This printer worked fine at our old location, but hasn't worked since our move.

Thats the nice part about connectivity you can keep guessing until you give up. We had this issue last month. It turns out the IT person had double asigned the IP address to a phone on VOIP as well as the copier. Pinging finally gave a clue, but we still had no fix till we made an enemy out of the IT Guy.

Since you said that you moved a copier from a different floor of the building and it showed the same problem, did you try moving the C9135 to where the copier came from? Assuming the copier was working where it originally was and if the C9135 works where the copier was, the problem is most likely the network switch on the floor where you are having the problem. I had this same problem last month. After moving another printer to where the problem machine and getting the same problem, the customer finally replaced the switch and the problem was corrected.

Another way to test for problems with the network is to connect your laptop to the printer with a crossover cable and try to print.

I can try that. These are fairly expensive managed switches, are there any settings i should be looking for that might have problems. Should I force the switch to 100 MB/ Full and the copier? Users can print directly to it.

Are the settings on all of the machines identical? Firmware the same? A crossover test should be able to help narrow down whether or not the issue is on the device side or the network side. You may laso want to make sure that all of the information for the machine (IP, subnet, and gateway) are correct, as well as making sure that the IP is either configured statically and reserved as such. When you do the crossover test, be sure to ping the IP as well since it really does sound like you've got a duplicate IP on the network. If there's a DNS server onsite, try doing an nslookup for the copier's IP and see what device name you get back and then compare that to the hostname of the copier.

            1. Yes they have identical firmware and settings.
            2. I am able to print via cross over cable.
            3. The IP Settings are correct, and have been verified.
            4. There are no duplicate IPs, and it is on the reserved range.
            5. I was incorrect when saying people could print directly to it from the same network segment.

I am pretty sure this has something to do with the network switch, but I don't see any dropped packets or CRC errors. This is a fairly expensive managed switch, and I don't see anything that could be faulty. Any advice on settings that might need to be changed network side?

You do not need a dropped packet. You only need a momentary break in communication between devices. If the switch is more than 3 years old, it should be replaced. If the switch is newer, try moving the C9135 to a different port on the switch.

Or you could replace everything on the C9135 that has to do with networking including a new controller board. Also update or reflash all firmware.

What are you orthey using to monitor packets? Wireshark is available from Ricoh and can monitor traffic to the C9135.

I'd check and see if there are any VLAN configurations on the switch, everything is leading back that way so that's going to be where to look.

Print Job Continuously Restarts Spooling But Never Prints

I have found this KB about increasing the timeout value on the printer's network card. Is there a place to change this on the savin?
