    Print/Scan SD Card

We just moved a Savin 9250sp (same as Ricoh MP5001) to a new location for a school. The IT can't find it on the network. Other devices work on this network port. No response to a loopback.

Checked for basics & there is no SD card in slot #1. Should be a print/scan card there. There is a card in slot #2, part # on it is D0925910D.

By the book its not a VM or update SD card part number. I put it in slot # 1 thinking somebody moved it but still no network, no ping, no green light on controller. They sway it did work untill a month B4 the relocation. Any thoughts would be appreciated, we only have this one account w/ this model.

As far as I recall there's no print/scan card with these machines. Do you get printer SP or printer features in user tools?

Also, check SP5985-001 to verify that the NIC is turned on (1).

Yes the NIC is on. Checked it in the SP. If there is no SD card for print/scan then maybe the controller is trashed? It will print via USB. Nic is not a separate board.

So if you plug a laptop directly into the NIC you get no lights at all? You can't ping it?

I'm fairly sure that the D0925910 card is the VM card so I wouldn't worry about that.

You say other devices work on the same port. Does mean the same port on the switch or does it mean unplug the cable from the 9250 and plug it into your laptop? Unless you have tested a network end to end you cannot rule out a network problem. Also check that the TCP/IP protocol is enabled.

One other thing, check for bent pins in the network jack. If there are and you cannot straighten them, you may have to replace the controller board.

Maybe there is something else on the network that already has the network address of the machine? Have someone try to ping the machine's address while the machine isn't connected to check.
Also, make sure that the part of the network's address that identifies the network is the same as what's programmed in the machine. It won't show up on the network otherwise.

Thanks all. Headed out there this AM. Maybe its as simple as bad pins @ the NIC socket, easy to ck.

Just read up on IP address structure. I will compare the first three segments to see if they are same( network & machine).
I'll also ck. TCP/IP protocall. I think the IT guy was using dynamic address.

                I appreciate all the suggestions.

Well yes, checking the absolute basics is a good place to start.

Anyway, eliminate the network altogether by PLUGGING A LAPTOP DIRECTLY INTO THE MACHINE. Yes, the laptop and the machine will have to be on the same range as dictated by the subnet (the zeros represent the groups of numbers that can be changed).

                  IP range 192.168.1.x
                  Subnet 255.255.255.0

                  IP range 10.x.x.x
                  Subnet 255.0.0.0

That's put in it's simplest terms, of course.

Slim slob nailed it! or at least part of it. one of the pins on the machine nic port was bent pretty bad. Back at the shop now got it straight & cking continuity for all pins

Much Thanks Slimslob. Simple fix for a complex problem. No one has any idea how one of the inner pins on the nic connection got distorted.

You saved me from expensive controller exchange.
