    [Jamming] Savin C4502 duplex jamming....BIZARRE!

Machine jams duplexing on the second side before the transport belt when ONLY when ONE copy is selected. If more than one copy is selected in duplex, the machine runs like a champ! Very odd....any thoughts?

Have had something very similar on mpc2800 - due to warped duplex entry guide assembly only done it on multiple copies duplexed on second side - think it is in a ricoh bulletin - do a search for it if no good come back to me and I'll try to dig it out

        1. yes, firmware has been upgraded

        2. our machine jams only when duplexing a single copy, but not on multiples....makes no sense!

            Hi Bobby,

Yes, all size papers regardless of the paper source...including the by-pass. It's the damnest thing!

                Hi Peter,

The jam code is j018...We have replaced all the sensors in the fuser and duplex unit. Our next attempt will be to replace the IO board. We are thinking this has to be a logic problem since it only jams when making one duplex copy and not on multiples. We've got a lot of guys scratching their heads on this one.

                Thanks,
                John

Definitely could be a logic problem if it lets you duplex using the by-pass.

It sounds to me like a timing problem. When you are duplexing just one copy, there is a time lag for the paper to travel throught the duplex unit. If the duplex unit is running slow when first used, the lead edge might not reach the fusing entrance sensor in the. Check for gummy bushings in the duplex.

                      Hi Slim,

Will do...btw, when duplexing a single copy, she jams on the second side before the transfer belt in a classic z-fold. Registration keeps driving but the transfer belt motor stops. What baffles us is the machine runs perfectly fine when running multiple duplex copies.

Update...the IO, BCU and IPU have been replaced.......nothing! Our tech is now on suicide watch..........

Have you checked the sensor targets? A sensor will only detect paper passing by reliably if it's target is clear of paper dust and other debris, after all.
