    Afmpc 2050 scan to folder

i need to place two low vol color copiers"1000copies per month", where scanning full color and set up to scan to folder..
    probably using windows 8..
am i asking for trouble here?
do these older color machines work on the latest windows platform?
is a firmware update the remedy if so?
    thnx

Updating the NIB firmware to 8.33 (update System/Copy to 1.20 first), these copiers can then scan to Windows 8/2012.

do you know how many years does ricoh follow up on these type of machines?
is it the same as their parts policy?

Not certain how long they continue to do normal updates. At least until they discontinue production. The Firmware history shows the 8.33 NIB update to be used on the Feb 2013 production run. After they discontinue production they do put out Special/Custom firmware to address any problems that may arrise due to OS changes on computers. Example: You can get Special/Custom for the Aficio 3025 to address scan to Win8 and Server 2012.

If I remember correctly, in the U.S. the law at least used to state that they had to have spare parts available for machines for at least seven years. So I'd guess that the firmware probably needs to be maintained that long as well.
But I'm not sure about that. So this could be just a collection of imagined nonsense.

A software update to correct a problem with the operation of the machine might be covered under consumer protection laws. A problem that is the result of another product bring out a new version that is not compatible is solely at the discretion of the manufacturer. They usually will if the update will increase sales as in scan to Win 8 for equipment that is current.

Ricoh has a couple of documents. One is for guaranteed support termination. The swecond is for the guaranteed parts availiblity date. The sweond is good to look at when you have a customer with an ancient machine that you would like to trade-in.

IM just a one man company, repair and sell end of lease machines.mostly ricoh and kyoceras
it use to be easy when everything was just a copier..rebuilt and sold sharp sd 3062
for almost 5 years as they worked and i knew how to rebuild them..before that minoltas and toshibas
now i have to figure in the software, connectivity issues on anything i rebuild and place..
i havent placed a new machine in many years and can do better picking up low count
                    lease returns and flip them..
