    ricoh aficio 551 paper jam

    in this machine when i copy from the bypass tray works fine . When i try to copy from the tantem tray or the other two trays then jams the paper in the registration sensor , begore the registration rollers
    any help how to solve this problem ?

      What have you done so far? Flushed or replaced clutches? Replaced registration mylars? Checked for leaking dev unit?
      It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

          This machine is nortorious for problems with the tray one relay clutch once you get above a million copies. Problem manifests as a jam at the registration roller. The bypass works because it does not go through the tray relay roller. Almost everything else except the duplex does. Try swapping the clutches between the first and third feed moduals. If the problem goes away, order a clutch. It is similar to the onway gear problem with later model machines. You get a slight hesitation at the first relay and don't make it to the registration sensor in time.

                  i have not replace registration mylars the are fine , and finaly no leaking of the dev. unit

                      I seem to remember that the rear registration roller bearing used to fail on this model causing skewing/misfeeding issues. Just a thought. It's been a long while since I had any of these.

                          Considering that termination of parts availibility date was over three years ago, the customer might want to think about getting something newer.
