theres no need to prepair the disk, format fat 32 and fit it in.

just plug same specs with the old hard disk... no hussle....
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

if you are useing a large drive you may need to set the size limit jumper on the disk to limit the disk size .

It needs to be at least 40GB and you dont have to do anything to it except make sure the jumper is set for single drive with no slave or master w/no slave.
The machine will partition and format it when installed.

You don't have to do anything special to the HD UNLESS you are using a used HD out of another computer OR a later model Ricoh. All you need to do is make sure that the HD that you are going to install has at least 40GB of space. Just plug it into the controller unit and turn the machine on.

                  What problem are you having?
Is it throwing an SC8** code? Do you have duplexing capabilities? Is the Document server up?

Yes... that is exactly true. I have robbed enough scrap machines here and that's what size HDD came in those.

plus you can get a 40 for $40.00 on line and Ricoh wants 150.
