Last I heard Ricoh was still working on firmware updates to support windows 8. Not sure what that present status is, to my knowledge only the newest machines will have support for it and they're retroactively upgrading firmware on older machines. If it's desperately needed, contact Ricoh and they may be able to hook you up with custom firmware if you're an authorized tech.

For the MPC305: Windows 8 scanning is supported with System/Copy v3.13 or later and Network Support v12.28 or later, if you have these both updated to this level then re-check your settings.

Windows 8 SMB scanning requires Special/Custom Network Support firmware version v520 LRC0451 released January 11 of this year. If you only have v520 (no LRC0451 after it) released in August of 2010, it will not scan to Win 8 or Server 2012.

You will have to obtain and install the Special/Custom firmware. This is true of any MFD taken out of production prior to the introduction of Win 8.

Also, if you have installed Windows 8.1, it has a bug which disables the SMB protocol, and will hopefully have a fix for it in November. Way to go MS!!

          Read about it here:

(Thanks to 'Doinbox' for bringing this to our attention in the 'Connectivity forum' here:http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/co...-protocol.html )
