Username & password to access network to send to folder w/ Savin 4027.

Our customer lost ability to scan to folder over the weekend. In trying to connect to the path to the network, the username & password are required. Everytime we try to put in a password the display reverts back to ************ for all characters. I don't know if this is a clue to whats wrong or not. Any advise?

Update, We can change the username & password on Web image monitor, however after doing this the username as displayed at the copier does change to the new name but the password is still all ************* and does not browse the network.

Forget about the asterisks and trying to browse to the folder, it's dreadfully vague.

Firstly, did they change anything when it went off? Username? Password? Firewall? Anti-virus? Folder permissions?

Secondly, are you trying to scan to a share name, eg \\servername\folder, or to an IP address, eg \\192.168.1.2\folder? Try the IP address, it may be a DNS issue.

Thirdly, can you browse to the folder(s) from a PC on the network? copy the path from the Web Image Monitor into the search bar in Windows, or a run command in Windows XP.

Test it by trying to scan, not by trying to browse to the folder. Does it fail immediately or go to "Waiting" in the status? If it fails immediately, what's the error?

Try these and come back to me.

I just had a fight with Kaspersky Internet Security blocking scanning on 1 laptop on a peer-to-peer network. It could be something like that, but if it was working and then suddenly wasn't then something must have changed to cause that.

Oh, and make sure that you have as many of the fields in the Interface Settings for IPv4 filled in as possible. As a minimum I'd say IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, DNS (preferably 3, but if there's only one on-site use 208.67.222.222 and 8.8.8.8 as the other two) and WINS if they have it.

Also, double-check that what is there is correct.

The fail error is failed to user log in (server=DC01 Err)

We are using the IP address as the path.

Last sucessful scan was on the 7th, thursday, customer says nothing changed on their end.

I'm waiting for a call back on the browse from the computer. I'll ask specifically about firewall, anti virus folder permissions etc.

That sounds like you're using LDAP authentication and the DC is wrong. Use getmydn (download it here) to check the settings.

The customer may not have changed anything, but windows update or anti virus auto update might have. Also, what is the OS on the machine they are scanning to. One last thing, if it is a server and the log in being used was not set to password never expires, the password may have expired.
