    [Error Code] MPC 7501 SC899

    Hiya

HAs anyone got the latest firmware update for the MPC7501. I have two machines and they have never had a firmware update and I am getting SC899 on them all when a customer tries to print to them in colour from a PC. Ricoh has released an update to cure this on version Version 3.13.0.0 - Printing PCL jobs that include the TrueType font causes an SC899 error or a printer hang-up.

Thats what mine are doing. Really appreciate if anyone can help

Hope your all having fun out there.

I do not know of such a version number, and a version of what exactly? System? Engine? Network Support?

        Hiya

I just copied it from Ricoh's update sheet for engineers. I have noticed tho its for the 7502 but been told the update for the MPC 7501 also had this added to so what I require is the latest firmware for the Printer mainly but if you have the Engine also that would be good.

        Thanks for your reply

Do you by chance have a copy of this update sheet that you could post for us to look at?

                  Re: MPC 7501 SC899

Thats not a firmware version it's a universal print driver version (UPD PCL6) and is now listed as a fix, Printing PCL jobs that include the TrueType font causes an SC899 error or a printer hang-up.

It appears to affect a lot more drivers than the UPD however, certainly the PCL5 MP C4501 driver and it is not listed as fixed in the release notes for that.

My links above are the latest firmware (not drivers)

To my knowledge, Paul does not sell drivers. If he does, it will be some obscure driver that he has had to spend time finding. Most manufacturers make drivers available to end users on their websites. Most manufacturers make firmware and manuals available free to qualified techs only. If you do not work for them or one of their dealers, you have to either purchase them from the manufacturer (if they are willling to sell them and you can find out where to contact) or someone like Paul. Many end users want to avoid the cost of having a qualified tech come work on their equipment and therefore try to find some tech who is willing to give away proprietary information. The same is true for many untrained and unauthorized aftermarket techs. I look these techs the same as I do paper and toner pirates.
