hello folks,
am still wandering why ricoh chose to replace the mp 2000 with the mp2001 yet i feel the former is better by far
Because engineers have to change something or they aren't needed. There have been plenty of good machines that have been totally changed for the worse, but they have to change something to keep their job. I do like that they changed to a toner motor..won't have to worry about stuck shafts anymore. I like the touch screen better although it should be bigger.
It is more or less the same machine as the MP2000, however the touch screen is easier to work with, you can install extended features onto the machine and it generally fits more into the scheme of modern ricoh copiers. It's progress, I don't understand why people get pissy over a machine getting a facelift. If the 2000 was fine, then this one will be too!

hey thanks for the reply its just that for me the ordinary version of the mp 2001 (the basic copier without the printing and scanning features) we have got really looks terrible or is just the one made for africa i just dont understand i felt they moving in the direction of cost effectiveness and ingnoring the fact of the market and usage in africa
No, it's the same everywhere. The Metis is such a cheap and nasty box that if any customer even looks at it wrong, it will explode in a shower of plastic covers and self-tapping screws.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Yes, it is truth that MP2001 series have lot of problems compare with MP2000
1.Background of both side of copy ( Like over toner )
2.Duplex printing and copying side to side registration issue
3.Heavy noise
4.printing image quality issues
5.Developer get weak immediately

You are right:
- The copy/ printing image quality is not stable, it will be fade more and more
- Poligone mirror dust quickly
- The covers are hard to dissembly
- And more....
